Cancer is the leading cause of death in most countries and its consequences result in huge economic, social and psychological burden. Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer type and the leading cause of cancer death among females. In this book, we discussed various therapeutic modalities from signaling pathways through various anti-tumor compounds as well as herbal medicine for this deadly cancer. We hope that this book will contribute to the development of novel diagnostic as well as therapeutic approaches.

The present textbook highlights many of the exciting discoveries made in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer over the past decade. International thought leaders have contributed to this effort providing a comprehensive and state-of-the art review of the signaling pathways and genetic alterations essential in prostate cancer. This work provides an essential resource for healthcare professionals and scientists dedicated to this field. This textbook is dedicated to the efforts and advances made by our scientific community, realizing we have much to learn in striving to some day in the not too distant future cure this disease particularly among those with an aggressive tumor biology.

In recent years it has become clear that breast cancer is not a single disease but rather that the term encompasses a number of molecularly distinct tumors arising from the epithelial cells of the breast. There is an urgent need to better understand these distinct subtypes and develop tailored diagnostic approaches and treatments appropriate to each. This book considers breast cancer from many novel and exciting perspectives. New insights into the basic biology of breast cancer are discussed together with high throughput approaches to molecular profiling. Innovative strategies for diagnosis and imaging are presented as well as emerging perspectives on breast cancer treatment. Each of the topics in this volume is addressed by respected experts in their fields and it is hoped that readers will be stimulated and challenged by the contents.

Prostate cancer is diagnosed commonly in the course of general health screening. Very often it is difficult to tell whether the cancer will be aggressive and lethal or will be so slow growing that it will not affect the patient's survival. Treatment can have a major impact on the patient's health-related quality of life. This book presents cutting-edge research in predicting the behavior of localized and metastatic cancer, targeted treatment of cancer that has spread minimally, response to newer methods of treatment, and rehabilitation of patients.

For 5 years, the Peripheral Nervous System-Machine Interfaces workgroup has dedicated itself to the recruitment of researchers, clinicians, and general public in a unified effort to advance the frontier of restoration of quality of life to those with limb deficiency. Our group's mission is to bring together experts from various domains to identify promising new technologies and new opportunities for inquiry and discovery in prosthetics research. This e-Book collects 10 cutting edge research articles written by members of the workgroup, covering three domains prioritized by the workgroup: novel prosthetic technology, approaches for reducing device rejection, and prosthetic control. In our summary editorial, we four principals of the workgroup reflect on our first 5 years, and project our vision for the future, as the Society for Prosthetics.
